MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF THE 2022 POST FLOODS RECOVERY SUPPORT PROJECT: ECOWAS on mission to Togo

ECOWAS, in order to support its Member States in achieving the objectives of Agenda 2063, spares no effort to come to the aid of governments in the context of sustainable development.

For a resilient Africa capable of overcoming disasters and emergency situations, ECOWAS, through its Directorate of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, has been engaged for several years in post-disaster response and recovery.

In this context, ECOWAS has decided to provide technical and financial support to Member States victims of floods during the year 2022 through post-flood recovery and populations in food and nutritional crisis.

Togo, through the ANPC, benefits from this important support as part of the implementation of a project worth a total of six hundred and fifty-one million, seven hundred and six thousand, eight hundred and fifty-five (651 706,855) CFA francs.

This project called "Support for post-flood recovery 2022 and Support for the recovery of populations in food and nutritional crisis 2022" , started in March 2024 for a period of six (6) months should end next August.

To ensure the smooth running of this project, the Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr SINTIKI Tarfa Ugbe and a team of experts have been staying in Lomé since July 14, 2024.

The objective of this mission is to note the effectiveness of the implementation of the project, ensure a good understanding of the objectives of the ECOWAS Commission within the framework of this support and assess the results achieved after completion. of certain project activities.

For the success of this high-level mission, the ECOWAS team paid a visit to the ANPC General Directorate Headquarters this Monday July 15, 2024 in order to discuss with all the actors involved in the implementation of the project and provide useful advice for the total success of all project activities.

This scoping meeting brought together, in addition to ANPC executives, officials from the WFP (entity designated by the government as Implementing Partner), executives from the ministries in charge of agriculture and nutrition.

After this decisive meeting which allowed the hosts to appreciate the efforts made by the Togolese government, an agenda was agreed for a trip to the field to meet the beneficiaries of the project and to observe the social works carried out.

This mission demonstrates the interest of the ECOWAS Commission in pursuing its ultimate dream of working for the well-being of the populations for an ECOWAS of the people, resilient, prosperous and resolutely committed to achieving the 2063 agenda.
